Unending patterns of unrest. When I sat back and contemplated what’s been happening in the world – rise of authoritarianism, pandemic disease, 120,000+ dead Americans, economic collapse, politicization of wearing masks, protests surrounding abuse and inequality – I could not help but notice the continuing crescendo of forces pounding at the doors of our spirits. At times it seems like all of this has come to devour us.
I believe it has. And it must.
It is only through these effects that challenge our souls will we ever learn to grow and truly engage the spirit within us and evolve. It is though this reunion with the Great Spirit nestled within our inner beings can we unfold the strength, the power, the latent wisdom that must be unpacked in order for us to overcome and gain a step in the evolutionary ladder of life’s grand unfoldment.
We have been told for eons that the earth experience is meant to be a “school” to “learn lessons.” These lessons cannot come in the form of passages in a book, where you read, memorize, then answer questions on a test from the safety of a campus room. Life lessons require experiences that touch us deeply; that force us to engage the very nature of what it means to be an animating life force capable of co-creating existence.
I say these events “must devour us,” because we eventually have to grow from childhood into adulthood. We cannot hold onto these patterns when Life itself demands constant unfoldment toward a greater awareness, a more expansive state of being, a greater representation of the Truth that all things are connected and One. For such wisdom and its subsequent growth to truly take root within our souls, it requires a deeper type of active awareness, a more dynamic form of engagement than our usual “just passing through day” we would normally engage in.
These challenges are meant to help us devour our current concepts of our own egos so that we may transition to a purer place more akin to Truth of what the nature of Life is really like; to draw ourselves in greater alignment with what we know is the authentic nature of existence as an expression of Life’s force. Such extreme events are meant to show us that our current conception of self is in need of change, growth, a transition in order to break free of the jail cell we have been living in. On a certain level, we have known that we were in this prison, but had gotten so used to the cell bars that we had become apathetic and given up on trying to move beyond them or didn’t think we had the strength to do so.
But the force of Life cannot be held back. It must grow. It must evolve. It has been on the march for billions of years (of which you are one of its many, many branches) – It must grow outward its inherent inner potential and latent sense of perfection. These upheavals occur because we are this force of Life in physical representation, learning to crawl, then stand, and walk. And though we might like to ignore such challenges in favor of a more relaxed and peaceful experience, we also must acknowledge that under such stress-free conditions we are really not that peaceful or at rest. We certainly are not growing at a great rate. In fact, it becomes a self-enforced complacency. Yet at the same time we can sense the urgency within us to acknowledge that we are something more, something greater, though we may not be able to put a finger on exactly what that is. It is the power of the Great Spirit, the force of Life, beckoning us to be its great ambassadors and reveal all the wonderful things it is. What’s more, we also know what some of these great things are: Love, Harmony, Equity, Balance … But in order to truly embody them, to not simply know about them but truly gain the wisdom of them, we must be prepared to know their contrasting polar opposites.
Hence unrest.
As mentioned earlier, we are often told the earth experience is a “school” for learning lessons. Why do we go to school? To prepare ourselves for the future. When it comes to the earth school, it is about the understanding of our own Life, to prepare it for the journey of an Eternal existence – not just simply a one-time physical incarnation. There are 7+ billion people in school right now. How best to teach so many at once, to wake them up from an evolutionary slumber and march them toward a better representation of what is latent within them, to a greater sense of Life and preparation for an Eternal existence?
Unrest.
The good news is that we know the solutions exist. We can sense them within. One could say it is because we know they are there that we have finally risen up to those forces acting in contrary bullyish defiance; such opposing practices declaring to be “truth” about the nature of existence when we know they are destructive lies – to which they have finally outlived their acceptance and are no longer tolerable to Life’s expression. Yes, we sense and know the Truth within. And these events are a siren call to finally seek them and hopefully embrace them – and by extension embrace the Life force within you; the divinity of your spirit. Evolution in action… Grow out those answers, those greater solutions, that better representation of Life that the Great Spirit within is telling us exists. These answers are just right now resting in latent form, waiting for you to bring them to physical expression. Yes, such intense events will devour your current concept of Self and Ego…
That is what happens when a caterpillar must become a butterfly.
